“Currently, landlords have little recourse to stop illegal tenant behavior. The only power landlords have to deter criminal activity is the threat of eviction. However, while evictions used to take three to six months, now they take one and a half to two years,” Emilia Calma with DC Policy Center said during Tuesday’s hearing.
