On June 6, D.C Policy Center Executive Director Yesim Sayin Taylor was quoted in a Washington Business Journal article on the Bowser Administration’s newly announced health commission:
“I’m not sure if this is the most efficient way for the District to move forward, trying to breathe life into hospitals that aren’t breathing themselves,” said Yesim Sayin Taylor, founding executive director of the D.C. Policy Center. The commission, she said, should look at alternatives — for instance, if Maryland’s health system could provide any form of collaboration — and the prospect of bringing basic forms of health care like pharmacies to underserved areas of the city. The role of community-based health clinics and health care personnel issues should also be on its list, Taylor said. “The ultimate goal has to be providing the services to residents of D.C. as conveniently as possible.”
