On February 21, 2020, the D.C. Policy Center was quoted in an opinion piece published by the Washington Business Journal:
Collectively, these initiatives have the potential to create a perfect storm of good individual intentions that have the opposite effect — a halt to housing development. In fact, the warning signs are already there. In 2019, the D.C. Policy Center reported that D.C. is losing more businesses than new ones created; The Urban Land Institute studied and documented the difficulties of doing business in the District; and the National Apartment Association ranked D.C. as one of the hardest U.S. cities in which to build affordable housing.
