Physical activity levels tend to vary widely throughout the city, with the lowest rates in Wards 7 and 8. In those two wards — which also have the most residents living below the federal poverty level — obesity rates are 39.2% and 42% of the population, respectively, according to a 2014 report from the D.C. Department of Health. These are also the areas with the least access to commercial fitness studios, boutique or otherwise.
