Workforce policy can change residents’ lives and connect them to both income, opportunities, and supports like healthcare. The D.C. Policy Center’s workforce research provides a comprehensive look at the factors that influence employment outcomes, worker experiences, and the local talent pool. Our analyses explore local workforce systems, barriers to entrepreneurship and career access, and employer expectations and needs.

Through our work, we highlight inequities in career outcomes, education, and training, as well as how these inequities relate to economic, housing, and education policies. We seek to bring new data and information to help improve employment outcomes for D.C.’s residents, especially those who have been previously and historically excluded from opportunity.
