About the event
The D.C. Policy Center is launching The Alice M. Rivlin Initiative for Economic Policy & Competitiveness on Tuesday, March 8. Please join us on February 28 at 10:00am for a special invitation-only preview of the Rivlin Initiative.
Named in honor of noted D.C. economist and policymaker, Alice M. Rivlin, the new initiative is being launched with urgency to meet the need for deeper understanding of the competitive dynamics within the Washington metropolitan region, explore how these dynamics changed through the pandemic, and develop policy solutions that can set the stage for the District’s success in the post-pandemic economy.
In its first two years, the Rivlin Initiative will examine the factors that have contributed to the city’s growth, risks that threaten the city’s future economic success, and policies that can help create a dynamic economy that will maximize opportunities for all residents, workers, and businesses in the District of Columbia to thrive and prosper.
At this special preview, D.C. Policy Center Chairman Sandy Wilkes and Executive Director Yesim Sayin Taylor will share their thoughts on the impetus for the new initiative, its research goals and implications for the city, and the financial resources needed to carry out the agenda.
Our gratitude to Chris Gladstone and Quadrangle Development Corporation for providing seed funding for the Rivlin Initiative in honor of our Chairman.
