DC faces $1 billion in budget cuts as House bill threatens DC autonomy | WUSA9

On March 10, 2025, Executive Director Yesim Sayin was quoted by WUSA9:

Executive Director of the D.C. Policy Center, Yesim Sayin, said the cuts would not even save the federal government money — most of DC’s budget comes from local funding sources.

WUSA9 spoke to Yesim Sayin, the Executive Director of the DC Policy Center. She said the proposal is unfair and predicts cuts will be painful for thousands of families in D.C.

“It’s not going to save the federal government money. In fact, in the past when government went through shutdowns, DC government can continue to spend its own money,” Sayin explained.
