Office to residence conversions | Evidence Matters

On October 10, 2023, the D.C. Policy Center Executive Director Yesim Sayin was cited in a HUD publication, Evidence Matters:

“That’s the big idea,” says DC Policy Center’s Yesim Sayin. “You have one type of use in a building, offices, that is in low demand, and another kind of use, housing, that is in high demand, and you’ve got the building — it makes a lot of sense.” Although Sayin points out the many potential complications of conversions as well as the reasons why a conversion might not make sense in a given context, she notes that conversions have been performed successfully for decades.
